Social Welfare Home named after Anna and Ludwig Helcl in Cracow
It was out of love and respect for my neighbor and the willingness to help others that an unusual idea for those times was born, which took the form of a bequest of Anna Helclowa in her last will of 1878. "I bequeath my entire person and real estate to a public charity institution in the city of Cracow for poor Christians of the Catolic religion, which is to be founded on the property left behind me.” In this way, Anna and Ludwik Helcl, a married couple known for their charity work, founded a plant which, from the very beginning, was one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The House of the Poor, thanks to an excellent city architect - Tomasz Pryliński, who designed the building with the chapel, became an architectural gem of the city of Cracow and a permanent part of its landscape.
